Fine Art

the first photo is of a wooden gord. i chose to take a picture of it because to me it says that we can try to be perfect and smooth on the outside but when you take a closer look, we are always going to have those indents and things that make us imperfect. it is because of these imperfections that make us unique (which is why this piece of wood is unique and beautiful). there are sections of it that are smooth but the majority of it is not. and that is how we as humans tend to be, together in some ways but incomplete in more that we could imagine.

the second photo is of a bird in a cage. it is another way of saying that the bird is trapped. when we look at the world and the people who are struggling everyday within it, we tend to feel trapped. the bird represents us as humans while the cages bars can represent society, family, friends, work, etc. the thing surrounding us is where we live and how we live but there are moments were we get angry and realize that it is a cage with boundaries.

Reflection

STILL LIFE
i chose to use my grandmothers bible and a necklace made out of a diamond from her wedding ring for my still life. for me, my grandmother was an extremely important person in my life and she inspired me to do great things. i have recently become more involved and interested with the church which is why i found her bible to be appropriate. and her diamond is merely a symbol of remembrance. i think the shadow cut out that i used worked to my advantage in the photo with the white edges in order to provide a unique feel and look. i am pleased with that particular photo but not so much with the other one on my blog.
